It's Thanksgiving season, where everyone takes the time to sit back from the craziness of college and remind themselves what they are thankful for.  Purdue is something that I am so thankful for! From hanging out with friends to taking exams, I know that everything at Purdue is going to help us out so much in the long run and shouldn't be taken for granted.  Here's some top reasons why I'm thankful for Purdue: 1. Top-Ranked Engineering Program Of course, academics takes the top.  The entire Purdue community is centered around academics and even more so in the College of Engineering.  As I pursue my degree in Mechanical Engineering, I realize more and more everyday how applicable my studies are to real-life careers.  Although maybe challenging at times, the College of Engineering will prepare me for anything the world has to throw at me, and I couldn't be more thankful.   2. Throughout my three years here at Purdue, I have made it one of my goals to acquire as much work experience as possible, simply because I had absolutely no idea where my career interests lied. With the wonderful opportunities Purdue provides, acquiring job experience is not a difficult task if you know where to look ( https://www.cco.purdue.edu/ ).  After my freshman year, I worked at Freudenberg Performance Materials as a Mechanical Engineering Intern focusing on production support.  I realized that I really enjoyed the manufacturing environment, and such experience inspired me to try and find another internship.The subsequent two years, I worked for Honda Manufacturing of Indiana in Greensburg, IN to work in the Assembly Frame Department.  As a Senior in High School, I would've never thought I would be working in the automotive industry, so here is my best advice for navigating your career when you enjoy everything! It's fall, a time when friends come together to watch football, pick pumpkins and sip hot chocolate.  Fall is a great time on campus for students, faculty and staff alike.  Over my two years at Purdue, I've fallen in love with my school many times, and I hope you do the same.  Here are five times that I've FALLen in love with Purdue: 1) The Campus During the Fall When arriving to campus at the beginning of the semester, it's pretty hot and time spent outside is minimal.  But once mid-September comes around, the scenery changes -- and in a good way. The leaves are a beautiful, the temperature is mild and everyone has a smile on their face.  My first fall is a time that I fell in love with Purdue.  2) B1G Basketball Champions One of my most favorite moments of Purdue is watching Purdue Basketball clinch the B1G championship on senior night. It's application season and seniors everywhere are filling out applications, visiting schools and doing interviews. Below I will highlight some of my advice for finding YOUR school (hopefully Purdue). Former WE Link LT Ashley and I in front of Neil.. We love Purdue! Go toward a school that lets you do what you love.  Don't just apply to a school for its "name". Figure out your interests and apply to schools that have programs, clubs or other resources to help you be your best. For me, the WIEP program is one of the many reasons Purdue engineering stood out to me.   Be passionate about your college essays.  As much as a pain the supplemental essays are to do, they really do matter. This is the only time you get to show your true colors, so write about something you love (and it will be easier to write, too).  Ask for help.  There are many resources to make your essays and other parts of your application the best that it can be. It's "syllabus week" at Purdue, which means classes and homework are gearing up.  Although work wise it may be the "easiest" week of the year, a solid, fresh start equates to a successful semester.  Ever wondered how to start a semester strong in college? Read advice from a current student on how to make this your best semester yet!   Organization is the Answer to Everything It goes without saying that being organized is a crucial part of a college student's life.  But in order to accomplish what you want to do in a timely fashion, start the first week of classes.  I like to make a weekly schedule and continue to follow it throughout the semester to keep a routine.  Also, plan out a schedule for the entire semester so you are aware which weeks will be busier than others.  Even if something is thrown your way, if you are organized ahead of time you will know exactly when you are able to do it.  Being organized also lowers stress levels, which is im...
