These organizations include the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and more. A great way to get involved on campus is through the various car clubs that Purdue has to offer. Not only are you gaining valuable experience with working in a team, members of these clubs are designing and building something that is directly related to engineering and their interests. By participating in the building of a car, one can learn everything from the technical skills of machining various parts to soft skills of project management and communication.                         Some of the major car clubs on campus include Purdue Baja Racing, Purdue Formula SAE, ChemE Car and Purdue Electric Racing. Looking for leadership opportunities within engineering at Purdue? There are plenty of them, one of the most popular  options is to  be come  an Ambassador in the College of Engineering.  There are a few different ways in which students can become ambassadors at Purdue! 1) Global Engineering Ambassadors Ambassadors for Purdue’s Global Engineering Program interact with both current and prospective students. In addition to presenting at student fairs, they are involved in various Global Engineering events .  This includes participating in the  annual I2D Expo and hosting international visitors on campus. As  a bonus , ambassadors who participate in at least 10 events each semester will be awarded a $250 travel grant that can be applied to a study abroad program or to a conference for professional development. 1. Purdue University Dance Marathon (PUDM):  The biggest student-run organization on campus! You can join as a dancer, where you get to fundraise leading up to the 18-hour long event or be even more involved and join a committee! Some of the committees include Riley Relations, where you fundraise to sponsor events for the Riley families throughout the year & are paired with a Riley family for the night of the event, Special Events Committee, where you organize 5K’s and other events around campus throughout the year, and so much more! 2. Boiler Gold Rush (BGR):  Whether it be as a new student, a team leader (TL), or even a Supervisor, there are so many ways to get involved with BGR! This week-long event is held the week before classes start in August. Beginning your journey at Purdue is exciting; you get to begin a whole new chapter of your life!   The organizations that you are involved with will likely be a big part of your life on campus.   Outside of classes and homework, clubs are a great way to meet new people and find what you are passionate about.   Here is some of our best advice on ways to get involved in organizations while at Purdue! Attend callouts  These usually happen near the beginning of each semester and information can be found on a club’s website.  Organizations might also write callout information with chalk on the ground; check one out that you pass on your way to class!  Also, remember, a callout is not a commitment, and usually, there is free food! National Engineers Week is a week that is devoted to celebrating engineers and all of the awesome things that engineers have accomplished.  All around the country, colleges and universities celebrated Engineers Week with various activities throughout the week.  Purdue celebrates National Engineers Week a little later in the year, usually in March or April; that’s ok though because that just means engineers at Purdue get to have two weeks devoted to them! This year National Engineers was from February 19 th - February 25 th . This year the theme for National Engineers was “Dream Big”.  To celebrate this theme, National Engineers Week is promoted a new film, Dream Big, that showcases the impact that engineering has had on the world and our lives.  I think that the theme was an excellent choice, because as engineers the sky is our limit and we really can dream big.  With a degree from Purdue University, you will have the skills and talents to really create some ama...
