Favorite Part of Engineering: “Learning something that will make a difference! I want to work on water purification one day in a developing country, and each course takes me one step closer to that goal.”

Best thing about Purdue: “All the opportunities. I can join a club for literally anything I’m interested: helping kids, my faith, dance, engineering. There’s so much help for homework/classes, and everyone is so friendly and helpful - you can ask anyone on campus for directions, etc. and they’ll gladly help.”

Fun Purdue Memory: “A fun memory was the first week of freshman year and the craziness of it! There were so many people, such a big campus, so many things to do - it was overwhelming in a great way! Another great one was my Maymester in Germany for engineering.”

Why Krissy Loves Purdue: “I love Purdue because of how well it’s preparing me for the future. Employers LOVE seeing Purdue on a resume. Professors are so helpful in classes. I’ve made life long friends. There’s so much help for getting internships or studying abroad - you can do it all here! And it all helps SO much!”

The Purdue Women in Engineering Program offers a TON of awesome opportunities and resources to assist female students during their time at Purdue. Learn a little bit about some of these resources below, or visit the Women in Engineering Program website for even more information! Residential Learning Community : Live in a learning community with other future engineers – the friends you’ll do homework with, take selfies with, cram for exams with, and eat too much pizza with. Mentors and Mentees Program : We all need advice from time to time, and WIEP offers two ways to get it. One is Pair Mentoring, where first- and second-year women are paired-up with a junior or senior woman. Boiler Gold Rush: Your First Taste of Purdue!

Boiler Gold Rush Something that is unique to Purdue is our orientation program, Boiler Gold Rush. This week long acclimation to college is filled with fun activities, meeting new people, and getting to know campus. Boiler Gold Rush is so much more than just an orientation. That’s why Purdue has taken the effort to make it the most positive experience I personally have ever taken part in. The entire week is centered on finding your place, having people you can count on, and getting comfortable at Purdue. Before the week of BGR, you will find out who your team leader and hall team is. Your team leader is the person that will become your guide and friend while you learn all the amazing things that Purdue has to offer. You will spend the week with your hall team which consists of about 15 other new students in combination with a buddy hall team with another team leader and 15 students.
